Being one of the youngest director/writer/producers to ever receive an across the board nomination for the "Best New Wave Artist" award at the largest &most prestigious genre film festivals in the world, The SITGES Film Festival, Ryan Gregory Phillips film "Shortwave" sold out both screenings receiving a standing ovation in Spain. Shortly after Sitges, the film sold out London's historic "Raindance Film Festival," also receiving two standing ovations and capturing a plethora of rave reviews.
"LA WEEKLY" named Shortwave a stop-five "Best Bet" film to see after premiering on the most historic screen in the world. The iconic Chinese Theater. Phillips sold the distribution right to Sony Pictures & Vegas Baby Releasing shortly after its premiere. Following that, Phillips won two "Best Director" Awards for his feature debut and triumphed over the film festival circuit, taking home over 23 "Official Selections" and 18 wins for "Jury Prize," "best Feature," & "Best Screenplay."
He's written films for Rebel Way Studios after being offered a multi-picture deal with producing legend Yoram Globus founder of the historic Canon Film Group and former president of MGM & his son Ori Globus.
His most recent script, "Copperhead Road," was one of the top 10 screenplays at the Beverly Hills Screen Play Competition. He teamed up with his idol and mentor, Stephen Susco after Susco had seen Shortwave on the festival circuit, and the two joined forces.
Additionally to his films, Phillips photography has been featured in VOGUE, WOmen's Health, Maxim, Macy's, Anthropology, among dozens of others over the past several years.
Phillips has also directed several dozen award-winning music videos and directed industry giants such as Revolt TV, VH1, and MTV.
In addition to a VICE SPORTS skateboarding documentary, he has also directed a 10 episode TV show entitled Hometown Tough, which follows several MMA fighters' lives for six months and is slated to release later this fall.
Phillips's narrative structure also stems from his editing, which has been validated through several of his edits gracing the prestigious SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL stage. He carries several degrees, including a bachelor's degree from LIU & USC in directing & media arts with a minor in psychology.
Phillips has also helped grow several companies upwards of over 600 percent as CCO and teaches meditation, breathwork, and reiki healing. He serves on several Hollywood alumni boards, including Dances with films & donates his time to charities AMFAR, ART OF ELYSIUM, Tunnels to Towers, and Frontline Food.
